Since cutting its ribbon in 2017, the Halifax Convention Centre has provided a number of unique features, promotions, and local flavours that continue to make the venue a top pick for event planners.
Here’s a highlight of what will keep guests and planners coming back to Halifax.
No vision too big
Size matters when it comes to making your vision a reality. And as planners who have entrusted their vision to the Halifax Convention Centre, there’s room to spare. The multi-level venue boasts over 120,000 square feet of flexible space with city views, including its Convention Hall with 24-foot ceilings, nine meeting rooms, and approximately 50,000 sq. ft. of rentable space. Planners can also take advantage of the Argyle level and atrium, sporting 11,000 sq. ft. of unique meeting and gathering spaces; a Summit level, offering more initiate spaces for meals and sessions; or the stylish Ballroom level, featuring a 30,000 sq.ft. ballroom, spacious salon, breakout rooms, and an intimate studio kitchen for one-of-a-kind culinary experiences.
All combined, the Halifax Convention Centre is designed to give groups of all sizes the space and amenities to help any vision take shape.
It takes more than a well-lit room and a podium to make an impression. That’s why the Halifax Convention Centre partners with FMAV, a leading audiovisual provider, to set the perfect stage for every event. From cutting-edge audio and visual systems to high-speed WiFi services, and digital signage to next-gen presentation tools, planners have access to the equipment and expertise to put their company in the spotlight.
The best of Halifax, brought to you
Launched in 2017, the Halifax Convention Centre’s Local Program is designed to expose guests to Nova Scotia’s incredible cuisine, culture, and experiences. The Convention Centre’s award-winning culinary team infuses locally-sourced ingredients into every menu, and local food suppliers are invited to showcase their products onsite thanks to the Centre’s partnership with Taste of Nova Scotia.
Exceptional tastes notwithstanding, the Local Program also uses the Centre’s digital signage network to feature Nova Scotia photography and video, thereby encouraging guests to explore the community and culture.
“We want to inspire our guests to get outside of our centre, into the streets and spaces of our province and explore all that we have to offer,” said Carrie Cussons, president & CEO of the Halifax Convention Centre. “We’re proud to be working with local suppliers and partners to encourage our guests to discover Nova Scotia.”
Location, location, location
No matter how alluring a venue may be, guests can’t resist the urge to explore. The Halifax Convention Centre benefits from being steps away from the ocean and in the heart of Halifax’s bustling downtown district. Here, planners can add on any number of outings to their itinerary, be it an afternoon visit to a local brewery, shopping at local boutiques, an excursion to the nearby art gallery, a meal at one of many restaurants, or a night out on Argyle Street to enjoy live music.
Being a stone’s throw from the water also opens up itineraries to cruises, ferry rides across the harbour, or any number of waterfront activities. No doubt, location matters, and with the best of Halifax right outside its doors, The Halifax Convention Centre can be a gateway to memorable guest experiences.
A venue for all
The Halifax Convention Centre is designed and operated to be accessible to all guests. In addition to typical accessibility features (e.g., open design, elevators, street-level access, easy move-in/out floor plans), the Centre goes a step further. Highlights include offering Infrared Audio Assistive Listening Systems within its Convention Hall and Ballroom spaces; Tactile Braille signage throughout the facility; fully accessible washrooms and a private universal washroom on every floor; and wheelchair-friendly layouts throughout. Moreover, the Halifax Convention Centre welcomes all service/companion animals.
Any venue can offer the basics for pulling off an event, but it takes something special to keep delegates coming back.
