The Canadian Corporate Meetings Industry Annual Award Program
Welcome to the Corporate Meetings Network and CM&E magazine annual awards program. This annual program has been specifically structured to recognize individuals, companies and venues/facilities that are an integrally important part of why the Canadian corporate meetings industry is as robust and successful as it is today.
This awards program is unique for a number of important reasons:
- The awards are specific to the Canadian corporate meetings industry.
- They revolve around an annual industry networking event and celebratory gathering planned for the fall of 2012 in Toronto.
- They will provide significant and national exposure for the winners.
- The nominations will be judged by professionals inside the Canadian corporate meetings industry.
- The nomination process is simple.

Best Customer Service
One award is presented annually for Best Customer Service. This prestigious award category recognizes a company or individual that continuously demonstrates its commitment to go well beyond traditional customer service requirements. The corporate meetings industry is unique as compared to many other industries. There are many instances where the success of an event is totally dependent upon the way in which its sales and operations departments handle their clients’ requirements including last-minute or even last-second alterations to an event. This award is applicable to any individual or company involved with the following categories: venue/ facility, independent meeting planner, CVB, DMC, event supplier and more.

Best Corporate Meetings Facility/Venue
One award is presented annually for Best Corporate Meetings Facility/Venue. This award category recognizes a corporate meeting facility or venue that has demonstrated its unsurpassed ability to provide its clients with optimal sales and operational support. The winner continuously and professionally provides its clients with clear expectations and specific delivery of ever-important items such as meeting room options, room décor and set-up, F&B requirements, guest and VIP services, entertainment, A/V and staging options, mirroring of the event’s theme, competitive pricing, dedicated staff, last minute changes or additions and more. As we all know, there are many great meeting venues in Canada, and this deserving winner will need to effectively separate itself by clearly showing its unique and measurable delivery of the required services that makes it Canada’s best.

Industry Leadership and Outstanding Contribution
Up to two awards are presented annually for long term Industry Leadership and Outstanding Contribution. Nominees will have been in the Canadian meetings industry for a minimum of five years. These are individuals or companies that have helped create and move new ideas and processes forward that have made a significant and measureable difference inside the vibrant and ever-changing corporate meetings industry. The winners will have developed and implemented items that are an integral part of how business is conducted today. Examples of these items include marketing, sales, operational procedures, management, educational, customer service, advisory or other aspects of the meetings industry.

Volunteerism and Community Service
Up to two awards are presented annually for Volunteerism and Community Service. This award category recognizes those companies or individuals that have made a significant contribution to the betterment of their local communities across Canada. The winners will have demonstrated outstanding commitment, either as a long-time volunteer, having involvement with promoting a worthy cause, raising dollars for an important project, or other aspect. Today, we are all faced with long hours and pressure to succeed inside a very competitive business environment. To be successful in today’s business world, while still finding personal time to dedicate to those in need, is truly worth recognition.

Lifetime Achievement
One award will be presented annually for Lifetime Achievement. Nominees will have been in the Canadian meetings industry for a minimum of 25 years. This prestigious award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated an unsurpassed dedication to the Canadian corporate meetings industry. The winner has worked consistently and steadfastly to promote and/or to improve the meetings industry over a continuous period of at least 25 years. The winner has made one or more outstanding contributions, or a series of significant contributions, to advance, promote or improve the Canadian corporate meetings industry. This individual’s work has had a demonstrable impact on this industry and their far-reaching and measurable influence continues to inspire those actively involved in the corporate meetings industry today.
